It's a nice park but the posted rate does not include the $5 per night tax and the $4 per night per dog charge. If someone had picked up the poop other campers had left behind it wouldn't have bothered me as much. Since the poop was there and I still had to pay, I not a happy camper. Don't look for me to return, to much $$$$ for what you get!!!!
The sites are for 40 ft max. Much more than that and you will be in the next site. Our neighbors were friendly and cooperative. There is a sign posted on the money collection post warning of theft and advising that you should not leave anything outside but rather store it out of sight. We chained our bikes to our coach and had not issues. We will be back and yes its "dry camping" but worth it for the view and beach.
I agree with the other reviewers, this place is great. It's close to the interstate so there is some road noise but not enough to keep me away. I'll stay here again when traveling. Nice desk staff, escorted to our site with raked gravel. "Maggies" on Friday night, CC cookies when we checked in, breakfast in the AM, really nice long dog run. As they say in California, "I'll be back".
This is the best park in town. Yes the site are gravel and so is the road in the park, but it's fairly level and maintained. The people at the desk are friendly and helpful. We were escorted to our site. We have two dogs and wanted to be close to the large grassy dog run so they assigned us a close site.
Like other reviewers, I only have good things to say. We wanted wood, they delivered. We wanted to wash our coach, they delivered a hose. Needless to say, the people at the gate were wonderful. While the lake was low on water, the view was not. The dogs had lots to sniff and a great place to do it in. Whatever you do, don't tell anyone about this place, I want to be able to get in again.
The people at the entrance gate were wonderful. We wanted some fire wood and they delivered to our site #19. We had a great view of the lake and although the lake was low on water, it was still great. Clean site, great for kids and dogs. Tons of places to eat and countless things to do. If you're here in November and December, don't miss the "ICE" display at the Gaylord Hotel. Fantastic life size ice carvings. It's a long way from home but we will stay again and would detour to stay here.
This is a good place to stay. We were assigned a site but wanted another and moving in the park is difficult as the roads are narrow but passable. Don't use the "dog run" as it amounts to little more than a large dirty cage. We would stay there again.
Like others we found the trip in towing a car to be unsettling, and the single lane bridge spooky to say the least. It's a remote location with in a wooded area that's nice. You need a car to get around Carmel and Monterey as driving your rig in here is tough. I wouldn't want to meet another rig on the single lane road in here but the owners say they have never had a problem. We will hook up to the car once we are out of here. Yes there are some dogs roaming and ours had to be on the leash and yes there was some dog poop but over all, it's an OK place
This is a great park! The staff was friendly and check in was easy. We were on the "hill" and the view was nice. The dog area was was well kept. I will stay there again when wine tasting in the area.
I would have rated this park higher except we were assigned a space next to the security check entrance and adjoining a storage building. We could not extend our awning and the space was definitely small. We were told that the space would be upgraded this year and it definitely needs it. The sewer vent is next to the site and smells badly. The power and water connections need fixing too. On the plus side, it's a great place for kids and has great access to the beach and dogs are allowed. There is an on site resturant but it's not opern everyday. We will definitely stay there again but will be reserving a specific site.
Like the other reviewers, I found this to be a wonderful park. It's clean, well kept, the staff is friendly and helpful. The fenced dog run is well kept. I would have rated this park higher but for the nightly rate. I think that $90 per night is excessive. At $20 less it would be a ten. We will probably stay there again as we cannot stay as the state park across the freeway due to rig size.
After several visits, we bought a site and are still in love with the area. It's 12.5 miles from Temecula, but that's far enough to escape traffic congestion. On our first visit, we were still setting up and had four different people come by to talk and offer assistance. Highly recommended!
